This dry wine from vineyards at least 35 years old is a fine , piquant, premium Riesling with a pronounced spice . Matured in large wooden barrels , spontaneously fermented , and infiltrated , this Riesling delights with its unique, purist style . A delight as a companion to white meat , grilled dishes , or fish .

The 2021 wine year began with cold, wet weather, and temperatures as low as -11 degrees Celsius. April and May didn't improve much, with cool and rainy weather, which, however, led to the soil's water reserves being replenished.
Bud break and flowering of the vines occurred about seven days later than the long-term average. The summer was a mix of sun and rain. However, we were fortunate to harvest the grapes in October during a dry and sunny period. The result is a vintage with qualities up to late harvest, with a fine, rather mineral acid structure.

Origin

The "Jesuitengarten" site, with its 26 hectares, is located directly near the Rhine between Winkel and Geisenheim. The vineyards are south-southwest facing and gently sloped, creating a microclimate that favors early budding, flowering, and optimal ripening. The name originates from 1605, when the Archbishop of Mainz donated the St. Bartholomew Chapel and its associated vineyards to the Jesuit College in Mainz, which retained ownership of the vineyards until 1773. The lower part of the Jesuitengarten is characterized by the alluvial soils of the former Rhine bank, consisting of sandy loam with gravel and sand deposits. Due to its easily warmed soils, the Jesuitengarten is one of the warmest vineyard sites in the Rheingau.
